Building on from last week’s content about the matchday experience, this week we’ll focus on how you can think beyond the 90 minutes to create lasting connections
Off Pitch Presence
Your club’s influence shouldn’t end at the final whistle. Maintaining a strong presence in the community keeps the club front and centre in people’s minds throughout the week
Local Events | Participate in local festivals, fairs, or community events. A presence at these gatherings, ideally with a few players involved, or a youth coaching session can build goodwill and attract new supporters
Community Initiatives | Launching social impact campaigns, like partnerships with local food banks or mental health charities, shows your club cares about its community beyond football. This builds a powerful emotional connection
Embracing Digital Platforms
It’s important to realise that social media is a two way street. It’s not just a place to broadcast news, it’s a space to build a vibrant and interactive community
Live Content | Host live Q&A sessions on Instagram or TikTok with players or coaches. The real time interaction makes fans feel closer to your club
Behind the Scenes Access | Share candid moments from training sessions, team travel or the dressing room. This exclusive content gives fans a glimpse into the club’s inner workings
Themed Content | Dedicate specific days of the week to different types of content, like “Throwback Thursday” with historic photos or “Fan Friday” celebrating your supporters and their stories
Sponsorship as a Partnership
Sponsorship can be a creative collaboration, not just a financial transaction. When a sponsor aligns with the club’s values, it can be a powerful marketing tool
Activate the Sponsorship | Work with sponsors to create unique experiences for fans. For example, a sponsor could give away free merchandise in a fan zone or run a contest to win a VIP experience Tell a Shared Story | Frame the sponsorship in a way that makes sense to fans. A local bakery sponsoring the player of the match and presenting them with a steak pie, for instance, is a memorable and relatable partnership
